General Information
What courses does TrainCan offer?

TrainCan offers food safety, workplace compliance, and certification training programs for individuals, businesses, and organizations across Canada. Popular courses include BASICS.fst, ADVANCED.fst, Allergen Awareness, HACCP, WHMIS 2022, Gluten-Free Training, Train-the-Trainer, and more.

What languages are available?

BASICS.fst, ADVANCED.fst, Allergen Awareness, and WHMIS 2022 are available in both English and French.

Most other TrainCan courses are currently offered in English only.

BASICS.fst certification exams are available in a wide variety of additional languages to help accommodate diverse learner needs. Please note that these additional language options are available for paper-based examinations only and are not currently available through the online webcam exam system.

TrainCan is currently expanding language offerings for the BASICS.fst and ADVANCED.fst online courses, with additional course languages planned for future release.

Can TrainCan create custom training courses for my organization?

Course Access & Login
How do I log into my course?

Use the login credentials provided during registration. Enter these into the learning campus associated with your employer, school, or organization.

If you are registering as an individual and are not associated with an employer, school, or organization portal, you can log in directly through TrainCan Campus.

If you forget your password, you can use the "Forgot Password" function on the login page. If you require additional assistance, please visit our Contact Us page and a member of our team will be happy to help.

What if I forget my password?

Select the password reset option on the login page or contact TrainCan support for assistance.

Can I access my course from multiple devices?

Yes. TrainCan online courses can be accessed from computers, tablets, and smartphones with internet access.

Does my course access expire?

No. TrainCan courses and exams do not expire. Once you purchase a course, you can study at your own pace and write the exam when you are ready - there are no time limits or deadlines imposed by TrainCan.

This flexibility is ideal for learners who are balancing work, school, or other commitments.

Exams & Certification
How does the webcam exam process work?

Eligible TrainCan programs include a webcam-proctored online exam that can be completed from the comfort of your home or workplace.

After completing your course, you will have the option to select "Take Exam Now" or "Take Exam Later."

If you choose "Take Exam Later," you may log out and return to your account when you are ready to write the exam. If you select "Take Exam Now," your webcam-proctored exam session will begin immediately, so be sure you are prepared before proceeding.

What equipment is required for a webcam exam?

You will need a computer with internet access, a functioning webcam, microphone, and a quiet testing environment. Please use the following link to learn more and preview the webcam exam.

When will I receive my certificate?

TrainCan provides certification to all successful test-takers.

Individuals who pass an online or webcam exam will receive their results immediately. The digital certificate and wallet card will be available in their account within one business day of successful exam completion.

Individuals who write a paper exam will receive instructions from their trainer on how to receive their certification upon successful exam completion.

What happens if I do not pass my exam?

If you do not achieve a passing grade on a BASICS.fst or ADVANCED.fst exam, don't worry — retesting options are available.

If you completed your exam with a TrainCan Proctor, please contact your Proctor directly to arrange a retest.

If you completed a webcam exam, you can purchase a retest directly through your TrainCan profile using the "Purchase Retest" option.

Retests are available for:
• BASICS.fst® – $20
• ADVANCED.fst® – $37

What do I do if exam accommodations are required?

TrainCan is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to support the needs of all learners and test-takers.

How do I order exams, manuals, or materials?

Training materials, certification exams, manuals, and educational resources can be ordered directly through ShopTrainCan.com.

Materials are available for BASICS.fst, ADVANCED.fst, and a variety of other food safety and workplace training programs. If you are training through an employer, school, trainer, or organization, materials may also be provided by your designated training administrator.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping times vary depending on product availability, order size, and delivery destination.

Most in-stock orders are processed and shipped promptly; however, delivery times may vary based on carrier schedules and your location within Canada.
